With pregnancy the muscles in the abdomen stretches like the skin in this area, and those weak muscles cannot hold abdominal organs which cause a convex surface. If the patient is very overweight, the operation is performed after losing weight due to lower risk. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia in the operating room. The operation lasts approximately 1.5 hours. With the help of medication, the patient does not feel pain for 10-12 hours after the operation. Later with the help of painkillers, the patient has comfortable process. After the operation, during 1 month a bandage will be used. Patients can take shower 1 day after the surgery. First 3 weeks sports are not recommended. In the next 3 weeks patients can do lights sports. 6 weeks after the operation, all sports are available fort he patients. The result is permanent unless the patient gains weight.
Tummy tuck is not a barrier to pregnancy. However, after pregnancy sagging skin may ocur in abdomen area. Therefore, this surgery is not recommended for patients who plan pregnancy in a short time.
